THE HISTORY OF THE VICTORY CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST

THE beginning of Victory Church of our Lord Jesus Christ started as a vision under the leadership of Elder James Weston.   James Weston, a native of Columbia, SC, at a young age, desired to see the world and relocated to New York.  While in New York, He heard the Word of God, was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Spirit of God. Rejoicing over the new birth, he returned to Columbia spreading the good news of Jesus Christ with his family and friends and whoever would listen. Shortly thereafter, God called Him into the ministry.  Elder Weston pastor his 1st church on Wheat Street with many souls receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.

On February 8, 1986 (about 31 years ago), God called Elder Weston home to rest from his labor.  Again, God is faithful!  God did not leave us without a leader.  He gave us Elder Freddie Mack, Lady Alberta Mack and children, D'Jaris, Eddie, and Frederick to the Victory Church Family.  God blessed Victory with a man of God after His own heart.  While Elder Mack was the pastor at Victory, God blessed the work under his leadership.  Many souls were baptized and filled with God's spirit according to Acts 2:38.   Pastor Mack was a hard-working, God fearing and prayer led man of God. With the leading of God, Pastor Mack accomplished adding the cornerstone in honor of the founders, beautifying the outside as well as some inside improvements, as God led him. Thank God for Lady Mack, being right by his side, working untiringly as God blessed her.

Along with that vision, in the fall of 2003, the Lord blessed Elder Mack, Lady Mack, Founding Mother, Mother Evelyn Weston, and the members of Victory Church to become a part of the organization – The Church of our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC), Inc. under the leadership of the late Chief Apostle William L. Bonner, and at that time Upstate Diocesan Bishop Herbert Edwards and District Harold Young.  Since becoming a part of this great organization, new ministries were added to the church, such as the Ministers' and Deacons' Wives Guild, the Women Council, the Brotherhood Ministry, and the Armor Bearer Young People's Union (ABYPU).

God has continued to bless Pastor Mack, Lady Alberta Mack, and the Victory Church Family.  Currently, we are in the SC Upstate Diocese under the leadership of Diocesan Bishop David A. Smith and District 4, under District Elder Charles Pollock.  Many members are holding various offices from local, District, State, and International Level within COOLJC.  God has continually blessed us here at Victory Church

On November 8, 2021, God called Elder Mack home to rest from his labor.  God is faithful!   God did not leave us without a leader.  In June of 2022, Elder Bruce McLamore and Lady Carlene McLamore was installed as our Pastor and Lady.  Elder McLamore is a God fearing, praying, hardworking and humble man of God.  Elder McLamore has continued with the vision of our forefathers’ sowing seeds of the gospel to bring change into the lives of individuals and families living in our community and surrounding areas, and by his side Lady McLamore. God has continued to bless us immensely under the leadership of  Elder McLamore and Lady McLamore. And by the mercy of God, we continue to be
blessed here at Victory Church. We solicit your prayers as we continue to do the will of God under the leadership of Elder McLamore and Lady McLamore.
